Get a pet
Animals can be wonderful for self-care because they love us without all the conditions society puts on us, or the conditions that we put on ourselves. It can also be very relaxing to care for other creatures and spend time with them.
In particular, cats are a great choice because their purrs have been scientifically proven to have a healing effect on humans. This is also something that many people report has a positive psychological effect as well.
Watch something funny or sad
Sometimes one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to get immersed in a TV show or movie. Indeed, this can provide some temporary escapism from difficult emotions, and a respite where your mind is taken off of your problems and the trials of daily life.
However, there are some added benefits to watching something particularly funny or sad. The endorphins that are created when we laugh or cry, can make us feel a lot better and raise our mood. Of course, there is also the effect of getting out any emotions that we have been holding in which makes content that moves us particularly helpful to add to our self-care regime.

Create a relaxing home environment
One of the best things you can do for self-care is to make sure that your home is a restful and relaxing space. There are many actions you can take to create an oasis of calm in your very own home too.
One idea is to declutter your home and provide more space in which to live and unwind.
Another idea is to limit the amount of light and noise that can get in from outside, especially if you live in a busy city. Cut back on social media
Now, this can be a hard one because we are always told how connecting with others is good for our mental health. Then there are those little dopamine boosts we get when someone likes one of our posts.
However, the problem with social media is that it can provide a very warped sense of reality. One that when you compare it to your real life, can make it seem as if you are missing out, not working hard enough on your goals, or not as popular as you could be.
