Do you want to gain the recognition of brands to your site? There are so many ways to make your blog look professional and that’s by installing a blog signature.
I used to add blog signatures to the end of my post the old fashion way by manually typing my name. But seriously, that’s absolutely time-consuming and who would want to do that their entire blogging life? That’s why it’s better to have an automated blog post signature every time you hit that publish button.
What is a blog signature though?
A blog post signature is the little sign-off at the end of all your post and pages. It shows your readers that you’re actually a real person (or writer) behind the content. It is a great way to bring engagement, be connected with your readers, show off your personality and branding.
It will look like this at the end of all your blog posts.
Your WP blog signature can make your website stand out and look professional. Think of it as a signature at the end of an email. It makes you, as a blogger or business professional, look legit (yes because we’re pretty sure that EVERY single person behind that screen is a bot writing out articles…).
Oh, did I mention “WP”? Yes, I did- you’re going to be installing this if you have a WordPress website. So if you have a Blogger, Square Space, or anything else, then sorry.
In this post, you’ll learn how to design and install your blog post signature to your WordPress site.

Have you Created a WordPress Blog Yet?
Just out of my curiosity but do you OWN a site yet? If you’re still using a free website platform, you won’t be able to do this (because it requires you to install a plugin).
If you haven’t self-hosted a site yet, you can check out two of my main blog posts on how to start one:
In summary of those two posts (and a few updates), you’ll be able to:
- Have the creative flexibility and control to do anything with your site (including installing your own responsive WordPress themes, plugins, and much more).
- Not have the ugly domain attachment. Yes, I mean the “{name}.wordpress.com”. It won’t look professional to any brands. Having your own domain allows you to make your website look professional. I’m currently with SiteGround for over 3 years now and I had no issues at all! You can also check out this post on how to find your very own Domain name.
- Strategically focus on SEO to get the most out of your site. This will allow you to reach a wider audience and rank on Google. I created a post on the simplicity of SEO keywords here.
- Monetize your site. This means placing any ads, any affiliate links, work with brands and sponsorship posts (it can be possible for a free site but it would look professional on a self-hosted one). You can learn more about creating a side-income in one of my post here.
- Surprisingly enough, you don’t have to get it closed down (for no reason) by the host.
So if you want to start a self-hosted website, I suggest using SiteGround or WPengine.
How to Make a blog signature
Remember earlier how I said that a blog post signature at the end of your post shows off your personality and who you are as a brand? Well lucky you because you can customise your signature however you like!
It does not have to look fancy and “handwritten” (but you can do that if you want). You can even have your signature as a san-serif or robot typeface.
Where to Find Blog Signature Ideas
Need to find inspiration for your own signature? There are plenty of ways to find blog signature ideas. I didn’t need to find ideas – I just find a good looking typeface on Canva and boom! Done within seconds.
But if you want to find something that matches your brand or if you’re working a client and they need one, you can absolutely go on Pinterest. This site has thousands of blog signature ideas and designs (I mean, it’s a visual site after all, right?).

You can search up Pinterest using these keywords: blog signature ideas, signature logo design, signature logo, signature logo design branding, blog signature wordpress, blog signature design, and blog signature examples.
Definitely find more ideas on Pinterest when you type “signature logo [insert another keyword]”.
Here’s an example of when you search up “blog signature ideas”. You can probably see mostly blog posts on how to create blog signatures on the top page but if you scroll down a bit more, you’ll find examples of the signature logo.
You can definitely get more ideas when you search up “signature logo”. Here’s one for example where I searched “signature logo design branding”.
Optional: Trial and Error Technique
This is optional but you might want to do a “trial and error”. When I was doing a Graphic Design course, I was taught this technique. The trial and error revolve around having at least 10 – 15 drafts before picking the final one.
If you’re planning on doing this physically, you can try writing it down on a piece of paper or a journal.
If digitally, you can try using a touch pen and drawing it on your phone or tablet OR by using a digital program (which I will be showing you a tutorial of), you can create or duplicate 10-15 blog signature designs and try out different fonts, colours and typefaces.
Now once you got all that planned out, you can start picking ones that look good. You can also ask for opinions from family, friends, post on your social media or even in FB groups.
Another optional thing: Once you picked the top 3 then you can go more in-depth with configuring the text using colour, fonts and typefaces. Pick one that best fits your website!
Creating a Blog Signature Design
Anyways, you should get the idea. Now let me show you how to create a blog signature design using Canva.
Resources & Tools for Blog Post Signature
There are many sites that allow you to create a blog signature (using a logo template). Here are some of my suggestions: Canva, LogoGarden, Visme, DesignWizard, PicMonkey, and Adobe Photoshop.
I don’t think you need to have someone else create it for you (because it’s pretty simple to do). If you rather do that, I recommend having someone from Etsy, CreativeMarket, Fiverr, a freelancer in a branding FB group (yes we got to be supporting these small businesses during this rough time) create one for you.
Tutorial of Creating a Blog Signature through Canva
I created my signature using Canva (pro) because technically I use this design tool for pretty much everything!
You need to select the “Logo” template on Canva. Make sure it is on a blank canvas.
The sizing of your font really doesn’t matter as long as it is in good quality.
Firstly, add a heading by going to “text” and then select the very top one that says “Add a Heading”.
You can use the cursive fonts by clicking on the text on the canvas and then go on the top horizontal toolbar which shows your text editor.
By clicking on the typeface, it should open the big bar on the left (where you pick your heading). Go up to the toolbar in the big box (shown in the top left) and then search “calligraphy” (it should show up in the search suggestions).
I use the typeface “The Something Script” (which is only available for Canva pro version). But there are a lot of cool choices that are free if you’re using a free Canva account.
Once you’re happy with your blog signature, it’s time to save it! Go the “downloads” (the upload icon on the very top right) and then make sure to select “PNG”!
Now it is recommended to have a Transparent background for your signature (and only the pro version can enable that).
As long as your WordPress website is white in the background, it is totally fine! You can also edit the background of the canvas to the same colour as your website background.
Once you’re happy, click on “Download”. Now you got your signature-ready, let’s move on to how to install your blog signature to your WordPress site.
Tutorial on how to install a blog signature to your WordPress site
Install it through WordPress –
Go to “Plugins” in your WordPress dashboard and then click on “Add New”.
Search up “Signature” in the search bar. You should scroll down until you see “Signature Widget for Genesis”. You should be able to click “Install Now” and then click on “Activate”.
I already have the plugin installed hence it says “Active”.
Note: I have a Genesis WP theme so I’m not sure if it will work for you if you don’t.
Manually install it –
If you want to install it manually, you can download the Signature Widget plugin here.
Once that’s done, then go back to your dashboard > plugins > “Installed Plugins” and install the plugin there.
Now go to “Appearance” on the side menu and then click on your “Widgets”.
You should be able to see on the right sidebar called “Signature Widget for Genesis”.
Now to add your image signature, look for the widget called “Image” under “Available Widgets”. Drag that to the right sidebar that I mentioned.
Once you’ve done that, click on “Add Image”. This is where you should find or add your PNG signature. Make sure to drag the signature you created from your desktop to your Media files (which you can easily do when you select it from the widget).
Then click on “Save” when you’re done. I didn’t add a link to it but you can if you want.
Conclusion
There ya go! You got your own blog post signature that is installed in all of your blog posts.
