Ok, so I’ve been sick with the flu for the past few days but I really need to get this off my chest.
I’m pretty sure you know that whirlwind coming around the corner on YouTube right? Yes, I’m talking about the Logan Paul “Suicide Forest” video.
I will be talking about that and the importance of mental illness including depression.
Note: If you’re triggered easily by depression and suicide, please click off and read my other “family friendly” posts.
So grab your mug of coffee or tea and let’s get right into it!
Yesterday, I had a discussion with my boyfriend on the Logan Paul situation.
The backstory on the Logan Paul Situation
If you don’t know the Logan Paul situation, it’s where Logan and his friends surprisingly visited Aokigahara “sea of trees” in Japan. The forest is also known for its name “suicide forest” due to its history with Japanese people ending their own life in that forest.
His friends and he went there and filmed, yes film, a man who has ended his own life by hanging. It is so bloody disgusting and awful how Logan, with no such respect what so ever, filmed the man’s body, joked and laughed. Not only was he the only one who joked and laughed but his friends were in on it too.
I was once Logan’s fan during his vine days where he made funny and hilarious vines but now, he just took it way to fricken far. Let me just go through one by one how utterly horrifying what Logan has done.
He filmed a dead body and posted it on the internet for the whole world to see especially the younger viewers. Like why would you do that? Why on earth would you film a corpse and post in on youtube for millions of young people to see?
His fan based is literally kids and yet, even with the blur on the poor man, he still fricken posted that. 6 mil and more literally have seen that. What’s worse is that I found out that his viewers, the fans, did not give a single frick on what they have watched hence the like ratio. It’s just so absurd to me.
Disrespectful to the Culture
Other than that, it makes me angry and sad that he would instead of putting the damn camera down, he continues to film close up shots of the guy and shows his hands turning purple.
Like are you really that stupid to do that? Are you out of your darn mind to be filming such a thing instead of calling the police to come to get the body? He should have done it with respect.
Once he spots a body, he should have turned off the camera, called the police to get the body and later on, talk about his experiences on what he had just seen. Nope, let’s just continue filming it and having close-ups on the corpse. Disgusting.
Disrespect to the man’s family and Japanese people. If you check out his other videos, it shows him being really disrespectful to the Japanese and it’s just shocking to now see that he would film a man who just ended his own life due to depression or hard life.
It’s both disrespectful to the man and his family and the Japanese culture showing their side in which they do not want to display in public.
Japanese is one of the countries with the highest suicide rates. Peace and love go to the hundreds of people who have ended their lives in that forest, or anywhere else around the world and especially towards the man who has appeared in Logan’s video.
He jokes and laughs about it. That is absolutely disgusting to experience him laughing and joking at the dead man. Are you insane or psycho to do that?
The fact that he ended his life and you’re just here, laughing and filming him is just fricken disgusting and unbelievable. Sometimes people may laugh at the scary situation but if you were, did you really have to film it or show it on the internet? Do you not realise he’s hanging because of depression? Do you, Logan, think that depression and suicide is a joke? It’s not. It’s a serious mental illness.
The thumbnail. If you have not checked the thumbnail, I’ll explain it here. On the right side shows a medium body shot of Logan and him being surprised. And you could guess this.
On that very left side, you could see the body shot of the man who hung himself. Are you literally INSANE?? Have you not got the right mind to, not edit out the clips of the man but you placed it in the thumbnail for all to see? This is just ridiculous.
If anything else, I’m just in disgust and shock of what 2018 has started out.
I’ve suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts and have attempted. I didn’t think I needed to say this but this issue just needs to be said.
In late December, one of my bias and SHINee kpop idol, Jonghyun, has ended his own life due to depression. This caused me to become depressed again.
I’m currently am trying to move on and heal after what had happened two weeks ago but after finding out about this now situation had made me think of how bad this year and last year has turned out to be. Currently, I’m getting help from people close to me.
Suicide is a big issue in our world and if we don’t get instant help, we could lose so many precious lives and end up spreading depression around towards family and friends.
So if you have depression or suicidal thoughts, here’s my message to you:
I’m going to let you know that you have plenty of love, from me, your family and your friends. Your life is precious and you can’t waste it like that.
