Hi, hello, hey lovelies,
Yes, as you can read by the title… Yes, I’M STARTING A STATIONERY BUSINESS without a degree at 18 (lol).
Ok, ok to be truthful with you, I always loved stationeries. I would always get excited to buy them during “back to school” events in my high school years. Stationeries are pretty much… My life!
I even did a haul of them earlier in April so if you want, you can go read that post after this.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO START A STATIONERY BUSINESS?
But you know me, I love things cute, kawaii and pastel. I always wanted to create illustrations and design them on cards, pencil cases, book covers, pens and plenty of more including pillowcases!
Isn’t that why I studied Graphic Design?
For me, I never would have thought I could do this because I wanted to be an Illustrator for magazines. I do in fact want to become an illustrator but as you can tell, it’s pretty hard since you got so much competition out there and like I said, I don’t even have a degree in arts to have a high chance of succeeding as an Illustrator.
Anyways, I’m passionate about my art and designs so with the incorporation of both, including stationeries, maybe I could make my own stationery design shop.
HOW DID THIS IDEA COME UP?
It was 3am (yes, that’s wayyyy too late to be staying up), I was watching random YouTube videos that are art related until I saw this video that popped up as a recommendation on the side of the bar.
“How to Start a Stationery Business Online – Everything I Wish I Had Known!”
I listened closely to everything Holly said and something amazing popped up in my mind like a light bulb. Art, Illustrations & Stationeries. The 3 combination combined. And of course, it was another idea on what to sell on the side of my blog because like any other blogs, people like to sell their products for example ebooks etc.
Holly made it sound so easy but, when starting a business, it’s going to get tough unless you got passion for that stuff. With passion, you’ll be able to get through the failures and become successful. But I also had that passion because the moment I finished that video, I was all jumpy and happy inside, I wanted to do this. I want to be able to illustration designs, incorporate them into products and sell something that is kawaii.
After that, I hopped onto my Notes, wrote down ideas like brand names, what my illustration designs are going to be, the layout, created a secret Pinterest board and got some ideas/references of cute illustrations and the rest goes on. The feeling is like, a sense of fiery because to be honest with you, I really didn’t know what I wanted to be in my lifetime. I wanted to do something and then start it away (with the help of some research).
WITH THE HELP OF MY BOYFRIEND
You know, it’s not that bad to get help in starting your own business. I love my boyfriend very much even though he is not sabby at business, but I needed someone to be there to look at a client’s point of view.
One day, I asked my boyfriend about helping me with the business. We had a little fight since he was being a bit negative about starting a business. For me, if you’re passionate about something, then you should probably do the work, research and start it right away. Which is what I told him but we won’t get into detail about the fight.
Anyways, I told him the accurate reason for him joining and he said sure.
As super siked as I am, we discussed pretty much the business (even though we’re both busy with other things). Like the first design I created. I did trials and he picks one that looks good. It will continue like this since it will be helpful to get an audience’s perspective and of course, you can also judge it and I’ll definitely consider your opinions.
HOW WE CAME UP WITH THE NAME “PASTEL MEET I”
Well, on the 21st April 2018, I showed my boyfriend a list of brand names I had come up (some were quite embarrassing I must admit). One of them was “PastelsMew” and because my boyfriend had just woke up, he liked that one but he said it wrong. He confused the word ‘mew’ with ‘meet’ and the ‘I’ was supposed to be a caret navigator aka text cursor but somehow, I found that better than “PastelsMew”.
