Isn’t it crazy how hypocritical I am when I say I WASN’T going to spend a lot on Black Friday in last year’s post? Of course, I’m ashamed of myself for spending over $100 this year on Black Friday. Especially on the Jeffree Star x Morphe palette.
But who couldn’t resist buying a gorgeous makeup palette from Jeffree Stars? I was utterly sad when the Conspiracy Palette (that Jeffree and Shane Dawson collaborated on) ran out of stock. And guess what? It won’t be in stock until mid-2020!
I decided to support Jeffree Star by buying his Jeffree Star x Morphe palette at the Mecca store. In this post, I’ll be sharing tons of photos of the bag and palette. I’ll also be sharing the different shades and giving my opinion about the palette.
Note: these are real honest opinions from me.
So grab your mug of coffee or tea and let’s get right into it!
Daring Review of the Jeffree Star x Morphe Palette
Before we get into the post, I would like to state a few things…
- No this is NOT a sponsored post. I bought this palette with my own money (and because I wanted a new palette). But if you like it and want to support me, I’ll add an affiliate link to the palette.
- I’m horrible at swatches (I mean, I never swatch makeup in my life). So excuse the horrible eyeshadow swatches.
- Addition to the horrible swatching, some eyeshadows don’t come out pigmented in the first swatch because I swatched it ONCE. As you gradually look through, it becomes more pigmented when I swatch it 2-3 times.
- I was meant to swatch the makeup horizontally because the eyeshadow names are from left to right. However, I ended up swatching it vertically so… don’t get triggered?
Anyways… here are the photos I took on my iPhone.
My Thoughts & Opinions on the Jeffree Star x Morphe Palette
Top 3 Favourite Pigments
As someone who uses nude and neutral colours, I felt irritated when I saw the whole palette in stores. I mean… I never go out in full rainbow, dark and/or unique (green, pink) colours. More importantly, I never go out wearing glitter eyeshadows!
But when I look at this palette, I see many ideas pop up in my head with different ways to create looks that seem “exposed” yet settle. For one, I’m happy that Jeffree added neutral eyeshadows to this palette. I especially like matte eyeshadows so this palette was 85% perfect for me.
Do you know how much times I say “pigmented” in this post? If you watched any of Shane & Jeffree’s documentaries, you know how much hard work Jeffree puts into his palette and cosmetics.
To get that pigmented look you need to dig deep into the palette for the first time or dig into it multiple times.
Being someone with cheap makeup I can’t say for sure how Jeffree’s palette compare with others.
Shimmer & Glitter
The shimmer eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous and pigmented! Ok, let’s say you buy a cheap eyeshadow palette which has glitter and shimmers. The glitter falls out easily right?
For JSxM palette, the glitter stays in shape. You can see from my swatches that some of the glitters stuck on my arm even if I tried my best to use the makeup wipes.
I wouldn’t wear glitter out in public on a casual day but this palette makes me want to actually wear glitter makeup in public just from how lovely the glitter glows in the sunlight.
The packaging is pretty and simple. I absolutely love the rainbow reflection on the cover and a small message on the back.
It came out “unbroken” when I bought it (thank god for that)! The palette was safely secured with the bubble wrap and clear plastic.
I’m not absolutely “shook” from the packaging, unlike the Conspiracy palette where it had a unique box.
The cost of this whole palette was $50 AUD at Mecca stores. For the pigment and colours, I would say it’s worth it.
Would I recommend it?
Absolutely! If you’re a person who would like to go out of your comfort zone and try out new colours while still staying in your comfort zone, I highly recommend getting this palette.
So what did you think about the JSxM palette? If you would to get one for yourself, feel free to click this link. I made this post out of my interest in makeup.
