Evaluate your relationships

The relationships we have with other people can have an incredible impact on how we feel about ourselves. From friendships and family ties to the relationships we have with our partner, the way we interact with others affects us on a continuous basis.

The key to finding happiness often lies in surrounding yourself with the right people. We all gravitate towards others, but sometimes, the relationships we have don’t make us feel content, secure or confident.

It can be difficult to end a relationship of any kind, but often, steering clear of those that make you feel worthless or unhappy can be a good move.

What Evaluating your Relationship can do

Evaluate the relationships you have, and if you have worries or concerns, try and address them. If you have a partner, and you’ve been arguing recently, or you feel that things aren’t quite right, talk about how you feel and try and be as open and as honest as you can.

Support your partner if they’re struggling, and confront issues as a pair if you feel that your relationship is worth fighting for.

If times are tough, there is help available, and you might benefit from seeking professional help. Depending on your situation, you could see a sex therapist, a relationship counsellor or a therapist who can help you deal with other issues that are affecting your relationship.

Talking can help you manage and process your emotions, and it can also provide clarity for both parties.

Take care of your body

We often talk about physical and mental health as two different entities, but they are interlinked and one affects the other.

Looking after your body can also boost your mental health. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat well and try and be as active as possible. These are simple golden rules that are easy to stick to.

If you don’t get enough sleep, consider altering your routine to adjust your body clock and make time for relaxing and unwinding before you go to bed.

Exercise regularly and ensure you have a nutritious, balanced diet. You don’t have to buy every superfood out there or spend your life in the gym to feel the benefits of a healthier lifestyle. Aim for 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day, keep an eye on your saturated fat, salt and sugar intake and get your body moving.

Whether you enjoy jogging, canoeing, skiing, cycling, swimming, tennis or dancing, you’ll notice the impact of increasing your activity levels instantly.

Make time for fun

Most of us complain that there aren’t enough hours in the day. While you may have a packed schedule, it’s always possible to free up time.

Spend the time that you have available having fun. Socialize with friends and family, indulge your hobbies and interests and give yourself time to relax and recover.
